What is a foot care nurse?
Foot care nursing is conducted by a registered nurse who has undergone additional training to provide specialized assessment, treatment, and management of foot-related health conditions. Their primary focus is on maintaining optimal foot health, particularly for vulnerable populations such as seniors, individuals with diabetes, or those with mobility issues. Foot care nurses are trained to provide a range of services, including nail care, callus and corn removal, wound management, and diabetic foot care. Additionally, foot care nurses offer education and guidance on proper foot hygiene, footwear selection, and preventive measures to minimize the risk of foot complications. Through their expertise and care, foot care nurses play a vital role in enhancing mobility, alleviating discomfort, and improving the overall quality of life for their clients.
Do you provide in-home appointments and treatment?
Yes! Two Happy Feet is a mobile foot care nursing service, providing in-home treatment and bringing expert foot care directly to patients. This is ideal for individuals who may face challenges accessing traditional healthcare settings, and allows us to offer them professional foot care in the comfort and privacy of their own homes.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept payment using debit or credit card (Visa or Mastercard), cash, e-transfer, or cheque.
Can I claim this foot care treatment through my extended health benefits?
Yes, you will be provided with a receipt after the payment for each appointment is processed. This will include the total cost of the service and can be submitted with your claim to your insurance provider.
We recommend reviewing your extended health plan in advanced to ensure that it includes nursing foot care. You can contact your provider for additional details.
Canada Revenue Agency recognizes foot care as a medical expense and can be claimed for a tax refund.
What neighbourhoods are included in your service area?
We operate primarily in the Greater Victoria region, including the following areas: City of Victoria; Oak Bay; Esquimalt; View Royal; Saanich; Central Saanich; North Saanich; Colwood; Sooke; Metchosin; Langford; Highlands; and Sidney. However, we can also make arrangements to serve clients outside of Victoria.
Can I schedule an appointment if I live outside of Victoria?
Two Happy Feet provides service primarily in the Greater Victoria and Southern Vancouver Island area, however service can be arranged with clients outside this region, including the Cowichan Valley and Nanaimo. If you live elsewhere on Vancouver Island or the Gulf Islands, please fill out a consultation request form and we can discuss our availability to travel to your area.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel my appointment?
We understand that sometimes plans change and you may not be able to make your appointment. If you think you may need to cancel a session, we ask that you please try provide at least 24 hours notice if possible. This allows us sufficient time to offer the spot to another client, and to find an alternative time for your session, if needed. We’ll be happy to find another time that works!
How is equipment sterilized?
We abide by Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) standards for Canada in recognizing that foot care instruments are considered Critical Devices. Reusable instruments are sterilized using a Class B autoclave and kept sterile up until the point of use. Single-use instruments are disposed of after each client.
